摘要:本文是一篇初中英语教学论文,本研究旨在探讨英语阅读教学模式对初中生跨文化交际能力的影响,并通过被试的跨文化语言知识、跨文化意识和跨文化有效性进行测试。

本文根据综合问卷调查和测试结果,研究者得出三个结论。首先是问卷调查结果。调查显示,初中生跨文化交际能力的现状总体上不容乐观。研究者从学生目前的跨文化交际能力、语言能力、交际技能、跨文化知识、跨文化态度、跨文化意识和跨文化策略等方面对研究结果进行了分析胜任力细节,在六个维度中,学生的语言能力和跨文化知识的获得都处于较低水平。他们的跨文化意识和跨文化战略能力也不高。然而,从中庸的角度来看,他们与来自不同文化背景的人交流的技巧相对较高。同时,学生对获得更多跨文化交际能力知识的态度也很高。也就是说,学生有良好的认知能力来获取知识,培养他们的跨文化意识和交际能力。

Chapter I Introduction


1.1 Background of the Research

With the development of international economy, communication providessignificant benefits. As an official language, English becomes one of the mostimportant language tools and English education becomes the highlight. But thegreatest role of language learning is communication, which requires language learnersto understand the cultural background. So it is urgent to improve students’intercultural communicative competence. As cultural awareness, one aspect of corecompetences, is put forward by the ministry of education, more emphasis is put onculture education in practical English teaching in schools. In China, as a primarylanguage from the third grade, English has been popularized since primary school. Aswe know, students are always curious about different cultures and styles, which canstimulate their interests. However, due to the restriction of exam-oriented education,students are only hoped to have perfect results in the English exam, so the cultivationof cultural learning has not meant to pay enough attention to language teachingespecially in junior high school. This reason has caused students have low culturalability, that is, they lack intercultural communicative competence.

1.2 Purpose and Significance of the Study

This study is one of the practical studies to explore whether the ESA TeachingModel of intercultural communicative competence in English reading teaching cancultivate junior high school students’ intercultural communicative competence inclassroom. It is of great significance both in theory and in practice.

In theory, although some related studies by quite a number of scholars onintercultural communicative competence are put forward, there are still manyproblems that lead to the difficulty for students to grasp other cultures well. In China,more attention was given to the researches on describing the status of senior high school and on introducing the importance of intercultural communicative competenceof students. What’s more, there are few researches based on teaching experience,especially culture teaching in junior high school. This study is expected to behelpful in exploring a practice model of teaching in junior high school because of thefact that it is deficient. Therefore, this empirical study can make contributions toperfect the relevant studies on intercultural communicative competence and is a goodexample of fostering the development of cultivation of students’ interculturalcommunicative competence in junior high school.

2.1 Definition of Key Terms

This part attempts to make a more comprehensive literature review by coveringthe following aspects. It mainly introduces the definitions of culture, interculturalawareness and intercultural communicative competence along with cultural identity.
